Opportunities for assessing learner progress

Our Learning and Engagement team who deliver our outdoor education programmes use numerous techniques to assess student learning. These will facilitate teacher’s assessment of their students’ learning throughout their session.

These include:

  • Questions and answer sessions

  • Enabling students to make predictions and reasoning using knowledge gained during sessions, research and conclude their findings during the visit

  • Role play presentations to each other, teachers and/or the whole group to reiterate key facts learnt

  • Individual learning and decision making

  • Creating designs based on research and presenting ideas and designs in groups

  • Navigating under time limits and obtaining scores during competitions
